Franchised dealers register new cars in their own name to hit manufacturer targets at the end of a month or quarter. The moment a car is registered it becomes “used” on paper, even though it has only been driven from the factory to the forecourt. Dealers then sell these cars at a substantial discount to clear them.
The result is a car that is new in every way that matters, often available immediately rather than on a long factory order, and priced thousands of pounds below the same car bought unregistered.

Clearwater Motor Company is an independent motor trader registered in England and Wales. We specialise in sourcing pre-registered cars for private and business buyers, buying each car in our own name and supplying it with full documentation and a VAT invoice.
The business was founded by Michael Finlay, who spent his career in franchised motor retail building and running a multi-franchise dealership group, and is the author of Driving Dealership Profit.
